Export Tool Kit: Potential Exporter
So you're thinking about exporting. The first step you need to take includes completing an assessment of your company's readiness:
- Do you have the capacity to increase your company's production?
- Do you have the capital to expand your business over the next 3-5 years?
- Does your company possess the human resources and skills to undertake exporting and managing export market entry?
- Does your product or service need to adapt for the new market?
Where do you want to export?
You'll want to identify your target market. Once you've narrowed it down, developing an Export Plan is the next step. Do this through a combination of market research and working with the service providers that can assist you here in Alberta.
Develop an Export Marketing Plan

You must be able to clearly communicate this information, plus your market entry strategy, and have assessed the risks involved in the initiative.
