Mission & Mandate
Mission Statement
To increase the competitiveness of Alberta's private sector, the number of exporters, and the level of value-added exports and foreign investments in Alberta.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
In recognition of the contributions exports make to the provincial economy and their potential to contribute significantly to Alberta's future growth, in April 1995, the governments of Canada and Alberta signed an MOU on cooperation on international business activity. This agreement set the framework for governments to cooperate on approaches to enhance international business development for Alberta companies and to work with the private sector to advance those opportunities. The MOU was resigned in 2000 and then again in 2005 for a third consecutive five-year term.
Principles of the MOU
The activities under the MOU (operating under the banner of TTA), are guided by several principles:
- To improve, coordinate and streamline government programs and services in support of Alberta companies in international markets
- To build on the considerable strengths in Alberta's public and private sectors and focus attention on markets, sectors and industries with the greatest potential in the export arena
- Most importantly, to focus on the needs of the private sector.
