Spanning 661,185 square kilometres (255,200 square miles) Alberta's diverse topography includes rivers, lakes, streams and glaciers and even sections of badlands.
- To the north you'll find the Northwest Territories.
- On Alberta's western border is British Columbia.
- On the east, the province of Saskatchewan
- Along the western border runs the great Rocky Mountains, with their world famous national parks Banff and Jasper.
- In the southern region, some of the most important paleontological finds in the world have been made. Alberta shares it's southern border with the state of Montana, USA.
Alberta is situated in the Mountain Time Zone (Greenwich Mean Time less 7 hours). Daylight Savings Time (GMT less 6 hours) is in effect between April and October.
