Branches

Foreign corporations that want to open branch operations in Canada must obtain provincial registration or a licence from the province where the business will operate.

A branch is not legally distinct from its parent. The parent is exposed to the debts, liabilities and obligations of the Canadian branch.

A corporation must determine if its business name is available to use in Alberta by obtaining a Newly Upgraded Automate Name Search (NUANS) report.
