In assisting Alberta employers to recruit and hire foreign workers, the Government of Alberta organizes and delivers, in partnership with other government departments, comprehensive educational seminars about the process of hiring temporary foreign workers that employers have to go through. Some employers have decided to address the current labour shortage by hiring temporary foreign workers. The process can be time consuming, expensive, and requires patience and commitment.
The seminar has been designed by the Labour Attraction and Industry Competitiveness Branch of Alberta Employment and Immigration to help determine if hiring a foreign worker is right for your organization and to inform you about the process.
These seminars vary in length and content depending on the target audience and interest of Alberta employers. A full day seminar is delivered by experts from several federal and provincial ministries including Alberta Advanced Education and Technology, Apprenticeship and Industry Training; Alberta Employment and Immigration; Citizenship and Immigration Canada; and Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC).
