Status of Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program applications

Please refrain from making status inquiries once you submit an application. Responding to status inquires delays the processing of your application as well as processing of applications of others. Make sure all documentation is complete and included with your application to prevent your application being returned to you or other unnecessary delays. If you want to ensure that the AINP has received your application, please send your application by registered mail or by courier.

Processing times vary due to the volume of applications being submitted and the completeness of applications received. Currently, the AINP is experiencing a high volume of applications. Approximate processing times are as follows:

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program Processing time

Employer and/or Candidate assessments* At least eight months
Total AINP processing time At least ten months
Strategic Recruitment Stream for Compulsory Trades and Engineering Occupations Processing time

* If an Employer and Candidate apply to the AINP at the same time, the AINP will assess the Employer and Candidate at the same time.

** If you have a valid full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in a field related to your current occupation in the U.S. you will receive priority processing.

The above processing times do not include the time it takes Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to process a Provincial Nominee’s application for permanent residence, which takes place at a Canadian visa office outside of Canada. If you are accepted by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program as a Provincial Nominee, you will then be instructed on which CIC visa office you must send your application for permanent residence.

Please visit the CIC website for the processing times of Provincial Nominee permanent residence applications at the Canadian visa offices.

We are unable to provide status updates once you submit an application. Responding to status inquires delays the processing of your application as well as processing of applications of others. Make sure all documentation is complete and included with your application to prevent unnecessary delays
