Major municipalities

The largest municipality in the South West Region, according to the 2006 Statistics Canada Census, was the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass with a population of 5,749 1.  According to the same census, the municipality in the South West Region with the highest population growth between 2001 and 2006 was the Town of Nanton, which experienced an increase of 11.6% or 214 residents between 2001 and 2006.
