Major municipalities

The largest municipality in the Peace Country Region, according to the 2006 Statistics Canada Census, was the City of Grande Prairie with a population of 47,0761 . More recently, the municipal census of 2007 showed 50,227 residents in Grande Prairie; a 12.5% increase from the 2005 municipal census number. According to the 2006 federal census, the municipality in the Peace Country Region with the highest population growth between 2001 and 2006 was the City of Grande Prairie as well, which experienced an increase of 27.3% or 10,093 residents between 2001 and 2006.
