Federal government to spend $1.1 billion on combat vehicles (Postmedia News, October 21, 2011). The federal government announced in Edmonton and London, Ont., Friday a $1.1 billion contract to General Dynamics Land Systems to upgrade 550 LAV III combat vehicles."The LAV III Upgrade Project Implementation Phase contract is expected to maintain up to 2,400 full-time positions in Edmonton and in London," stated a government release.
