Alberta has many organizations that specialize in bringing technologies to market. If you are an Alberta innovator looking to commercialize a product, these groups may be able to help.
Innovation Voucher Pilot Program: Innovation vouchers help small technology and knowledge-driven businesses in Alberta get their ideas and products to market faster. Companies can apply for vouchers worth up to $10,000 or $50,000 to use at Alberta's public and not-for-profit service providers for business and technology development services.
Alastair Ross Technology Centre: Alastair Ross Technology Centre is a full service business centre for small to medium sized technology companies based in Calgary. Located in the University Research Park adjacent to the University of Calgary, the Alastair Ross Technology Centre is the headquarters for Innovate Calgary as well as more than 40 resident technology companies and more than 70 companies that utilize our Corporate ID business services.
Canadian Environmental Technology Advancement Corporation – West (CETAC-West): CETAC-West is a private sector, not-for-profit corporation committed to helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) commercialize environmental technologies. Services include:
- Assisting SMEs to seek appropriate partnering and alliance opportunities
- Coaching
- Environmental business opportunity evaluation
- Establishing connections to investor networks
- Facilitating technology demonstrations
- Identifying suitable government grants, loans and tax incentives
Innovate Calgary: In 2010, Calgary Technologies Inc. And University Technologies International joined to form Innovate Calgary, a full service organization offering technology transfer and business incubator services to researchers, entrepreneurs and businesses within the advanced technology sector.
TEC Edmonton: This University of Alberta and Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) joint venture focuses on developing technology, entrepreneurs, and companies through the delivery of the following programs:
- Alberta Deal Generator: business plan coaching, investor forums/networks
- JumpStart: new company start-up, Executives-in-Residence
- Technology Transfer: evaluate, protect, market, license
- VenturePrize: business plan competition, networking
- TEC Centre: available space, commercialization services
